Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College (TUDARCo) is a constituent college of Tumaini University Makumira (TUMA) and is controlled by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania’s Eastern and Coastal Diocese (ELCT). TUMA village located near Arusha on the Usa River (Makumira). The TUMA now has three component Colleges: Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMUCo) in Moshi, Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College (TUDARCo) in Dar es Salaam, and Stefano Moshi Memorial University College (SMMUCo) in Moshi.
TUDARCo’s roots may be traced back to the then-Waldorf College Tanzania (WCT), which was founded in 1997 as a branch and then a mission of Waldorf College, Forest City in Iowa, USA. The Waldorf College, Iowa Forest (WCT) was founded by the Waldorf College, Iowa Forest. The Waldorf College Council chose to discontinue its operations in Tanzania in 2001, and the College was handed over to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania’s Eastern and Coastal Diocese (ECD-ELCT). Tumaini University Dar-es-Salam College was established after the Waldorf College of Tanzania joined the Tumaini University family (TUDARCo). As a result, on April 1, 2003, TUDARCo was born from WCT as a constituent College of Tumaini University, joining Makumira, KCM, and Iringa University College, which existed at the time.
